Project Connect
The Pioneers Association is pleased to announce the release of the organization’s new signature education project, Project:Connect, after two years of development. Project:Connect combines education with the popularity of video games. Students are challenged to learn lessons in technology by playing games featuring a product or service of the telecommunications industry. Project:Connect targets 4th through 7th graders and is available at no charge to schools, community centers and other organizations. The project is fully funded by the Pioneers Association. The seven games are: E-Mail:Connect, Compression:Connect, Fiber Optic:Connect, Cable:Connect, Satellite:Connect, Cellular:Connect, and VoIP:Connect. “We’re pleased to offer youngsters this fun and educational program,” said Marty Lee, president of TelecomPioneers. “with Project:Connect, the principles behind modern telecommunications are at their fingertips.”

911 Simulator Project
The 911 Simulator program was developed by Pioneers to teach children how to phone for help in an emergency, duplicating the exact process experienced during a real 911 call.

Hug-A-Bear Project
Hug-A-Bears were created by the Pioneers in order to provide comfort to children in traumatic or unfamiliar situations. The bears are donated to public safety, fire, rescue and emergency medical personnel to be given to children. Smart Bears are similar to Hug-A-Bears, but are equipped with a book bag and a book to encourage reading in the home for children in kindergarten through third grade.

Playground Maps
A 20′ x 38′ foot for U.S. and 20′ x 25′ foot for Canadian colorful map painted by Pioneers on playground asphalt or concrete provides students and their teachers with a tangible method of learning geography through games and challenges.
